A converter can't rely on just the information as contained in DNG proper, like the black level in the example above. Interpretation of the DNG data in a raw converter often depends on the specific make/model and some other EXIF tags; and worse, converters that can render quality images from DNG need to ignore certain DNG data substituting it with hard-wired data of their own, derived from hacking the original raw format.
